You will depart the historic Key West seaport on a catamaran transfer that will take you and your small group (only 16 per departure) to the Mangrove nature habitat in Key West’s Back Country.
Upon arrival, you will transfer to your completely clear 2 person kayak. The kayak measures 30" wide by 132" long and is made out of the same durable polycarbonate material used in the production of bulletproof glass and fighter jet canopies. Set off with your guide on your eco tour watching for wildlife above and below the surface. Depending on water conditions that day, your guide will set a course to the best locations to make the most of your trip.
Above you will see an assortment of birds that make their home in the nearby Mangroves, pelicans, Herons, terns, egrets as well as the elusive Mangrove Cuckoo may be spotted along the way.
On the hozizon, keep your eyes spotted for the occasional dolphin jumping. Although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, dolphins certainly call this area home.
Since these kayaks are completely clear, guests are able to see right through to the bottom of the shallow waters, catching glimpses of unique marine species that make their home in the vast coral reefs of Key West.
After kayaking, guests can also use the complimentary snorkel gear to explore the clear, shallow waters of the backcountry from the catamaran. The area we visit is also close to a shallow shipwreck, which provides some excellent snorkeling and glass-bottom viewing opportunities.
Please note: Weight capacity for the 2 person kayaks is 400 pounds total.
